Fustic House is located on a cooling coral ridge, benefiting from the Easterly Trade winds, above the quaint fishing village of Half Moon Fort and is a 3 minute walk to the local quiet and sandy beach. The renowned Fish Pot restaurant in Little Good Harbour hotel is within walking distance, to the south. The estate is 5 minutes drive north of Port St Charles (helicopter connection to airport), which in turn is a couple of minutes north of historic Speightstown on the west 'platinum' coast ie the Caribbean (calm) side of the island. Other nearby beaches include Port St Charles, Almond Beach, Mullins and Gibbs. Speightstown has good shopping, supplemented by Holetown and Sandy Lane some 15 mins drive south. Bridgetown is approx 30 minutes south of Fustic. All west coast activities such as diving, snorkelling, swimming with turtles, water skiing, jet skis, fishing are complemented on land by golf, tennis, biking, 24 wheel drive off piste, walking, horseback riding and helicopter tours.

5 bedrooms have en suite bathrooms; the sixth (Wisteria) has a big bathroom, immediately opposite, just across the corridor. Master & Wisteria suites are in the Great House, which is connected diagonally to the Messel Wing by the West Sitting Court (ground) and the Moon Deck (first floor). The Messel Wing has the Sunset Suite on the first floor & the Seaview Suite on the ground. The Plantation wing (separate, in the gardens) has the Mahogany and Wicker suites which both have outside showers. All rooms are decorated to the highest standard with Indian silks, are air conditioned and equipped with Bose stereo/clocks. Each has International direct dialling with unlimited calls to Europe and North America, for a small fee.The Great House and Staff Cottage have wireless ADSL high speed internet access. The Library in the Great House has a large flat screen cable TV with large Bose stereo system and DVD's. The Wisteria suite has a smaller flat screen cable TV. The Mahogany suite has TV & DVD.

Notes: Fustic House is the largest private estate -11 acres- available for hire on Barbados. It has more free space than Sandy Lane or the Coral Reef Club + Sandpiper hotels put together. It is virtually Paparazzi proof. Outdoor dining (best chef on island) is available in many locations from the west terrace overlooking the Caribbean Sea, to the south lawn, or next to the Lotus Lake, where the cooling Trade winds provide a wonderful venue for lunch under the Mahogany and Pride of India trees. The pool was designed by Oliver Messel, who blasted it out of the coral ridge to form a natural lagoon. It is adjacent to the 120m2 sun deck over the Tropical Ravine that leads to the local, sandy beach (3 min walk through the fishing village). The gardens are a delight for horticulturalists, including many rare trees and other vegetation and an Orchid walk. Fauna include Barbados green monkeys (who stay away!), egrets, herons and fireflies, with frequent Fregate birds surfing the light Trade winds.

Activities: Our manager Stephen St John (who comes from the family of one of Barbados' Prime Ministers) can organise almost any activity you wish, from water sport and land activities to helicopter rides and flights to other nearby islands - St Lucia, Mustique/the Grenadines are a mere 40 mins in a small plane.

Golf: Barbados hosted the Golf world cup in 2007 and boasts 3 world class golf courses - Sandy Lane, Green Monkey (where Tiger Woods plays) and Royal Westmorland. Apes Hill is under construction.

Other Activities: Tennis, helicopter, 24 wheel drive off piste
