Airport collect (18 miles): 20€ - Supermarkets, as we know them from home, are to be found in the center and the outskirts of Antananarivo. Their product range is limited, but sufficient. Due to transport costs and customs duties prices are high. 4 miles, i.e. 15min. from Villa V. there is a Shoprite supermarket. Taxi rides are inexpensive. But the price for the ride is reflected in the condition of the cars - according to the saying 'what costs nothing, is nothing.' Rental cars offer an alternative and best with a local driver. Shopping cheaply is possible on open markets which are to be found on nearly every street. However, it's recommended to limit it to products such as fresh fruits and vegetables. It's just 5min drive to the next home-style restaurant / pizzeria (Chez Arnaud), The menu is extensive, the prices regular (f.e. pizzas as from € 6). The drive there is impressive and offers at its highest point a panoramic view of the Ankatso campus and in the background the city with the palace of the Royal Rova.

Mineral water is used for drinking. Ice cubes made in the refrigerator are from boiled or bottled water. Occasionally there are shortages of water and electricity.
