Exterior Description
This palazzo was constructed during the first half of the 14th century, at a time when Florence had begun to expand beyond the boundaries of the ancient Roman nucleus. It was commissioned by Messer Lapo, a member of the Aldobrandinis - a wealthy family who made their fortune in the spice business. At that time, via delle Belledonne was a main commercial artery leading out of the city - it connected the Mercato Vecchio (market square) and via Strozzi to the Porta del Trebbio, the city door that opens a path to the north. In the 19th century, the palazzo housed several painters' workshops, including that of the celebrated artist Ingres. The artists' need for light is probably the reason why most of the apartments have very large windows.

Interior Description
(130m2) Fourth floor (elevator): Four stairs lead up to the front door of this apartment. From the front hall all of the rooms can be accessed. To the left is a spacious living-dining room with very high ceilings; to the right is the kitchen (with dishwasher, gas cook top, electric oven and refrigerator with freezer) and the master bedroom with a queen-size bed (that may be divided into two twins upon request) and an en-suite bathroom with tub and handheld shower head, sink and WC. There are built-in closets along one wall and a window onto Via delle Belle Donne. The second bedroom has a single bed with a trundle bed, built-in closets and a window facing the street.

The bathroom across the hall has a shower, sink and WC. Up 11 steps is a loft area with a double sofa bed and a small built-in closet. The apartment is elegantly furnished with a mixture of modern and antiques. There are wood-beam ceilings and terracotta tiles. The floors are hardwood. The windows overlook the towers and roof tops of Florence. Available Amenities: dishwasher, washing machine, Satellite TV, telephone, air conditioning, independent central heating, alarm clock, American coffee maker, toaster, iron and ironing board, and elevator.
