Istrice is a light-filled apartment on the second floor of the farmhouse and from its windows you can enjoy the beautiful view of the surrounding valleys and hills. The apartment has a good size living room and 2 bedrooms, tastefully decorated with family antiques and traditional furniture.
Completely renovated, it still maintains old historical features and details like the wood-beamed ceilings and the terracotta (cotto) floors. The living room has a sitting area around the old (working) woodburning fireplace with sofas that sit comfortably 4 people.
There is a big open-kitchen area with table and chairs for 6. The country-style kitchen is new, with modern appliances: refrigerator, oven, 4 burners, and a dishwasher, so cooking is easy and enjoyable. There is an antique china cabinet the holds plates, glasses, silverware, cups, kitchen utensils, pots and pans as well as table linens and kitchen towels. - The Istrice apartment has 2 bedrooms. Each one has a queen bed and an ensuite bathroom. A sofabed that sleeps 2 is in the living room. The bedrooms are elegantly furnished with family antiques and country furniture and feature the original beamed ceilings and terracotta floors. Each bedroom has a wardrobe/armoire and table nights at each side of the bed. The beds are in the traditional Tuscan wrought iron style. Bed linens are in a luxurious cotton threads and the bed covers are in cotton damask in the tasteful local blue pattern. Windows are equipped with inside shutters and insect screens.

For the convenience of the guests, il Civettaio operates on site a cozy restaurant open exclusively for our customers. The restaurant is housed in the former barn with walls with exposed brick and decorated with antiques and memorabilia (including a small collection of very old wines). On request, il Civettaio organizes buffet or sit down dinners inside the restaurant or al fresco, featuring several courses of authentic tuscan cuisine from Maremma. It also organizes a hands-on cooking class pizza night where you can learn how to make your own pizza and bake it in our outdoor 300 year-old woodburing pizza oven. On request, the owner (and winemaker) of the estate will give you a complimentary personal tour of the wine estate and a guided wine and olive oil tasting.
During the Grape Harvest time (end of September/October) or the Olive Harvest time (end of October/November is possible to experience first hand the winemaking and oilmaking processes.
