There are boat rentals and Bass tournaments on the lake. On day trips from the Mount Dora Railway, you can experience the comfort and heyday of an authentic railroad passenger car, The Mount Dora Limited. The Mount Dora excursion train makes a round-trip run from Mount Dora to Tavares then back again, offering lovely views of Lake Dora, tropical foliage and wildlife from it's open window coaches. Golf: For Golfers there is the adjacent Mount Dora public Golf Course.This is an old course built in 1947 with mature black oaks, Spanish moss and much charm. Dramatic changes of elevation make this course unique in Florida. This could be the best value in the entire Orlando area!This course has a few hills which is a rarity in Florida. The fairways are tight, and the greens are well manicured. The most difficult hole is #18, a par 4, with out-of-bounds stakes on the right.
