Los Alcazares Apartment Details
What to do: As well as golf there is much to do in the surrounding area. The Costa Calida cradles one of Spain's greatest coastal treasures - a huge natural salt water lagoon called the Mar Menor (literally 'little sea') which is separated from the Mediterranean by a 22-kilometre sandy strip of narrow land. Its average depth is four metres the seabed sloping very gradually, so that you have to get several hundred metres in before the water is of any depth. The Mar Menor's salinity, furthermore, provides buoyancy so, all in, all it is one of the safest places to swim in the world. Fans of water sports will find this an ideal place for sailing, canoeing, water-skiing, jet-skiing, flysurfing, windsurfing, catamaranning, and every other type of water sport activity with access to numerous clubs, ports and sailing schools The lagoon is a rich source of minerals. You can soak in the healing salt water and natural mud baths free of charge or head for one of the hotel spas for a mud wrap
The local area: The Mar Menor is peppered with traditional Spanish villages which have been relatively untouched by tourism. Their bars and restaurants offer cheap and cheerful 'menus del dia' and tasty tapas. These villages are a world apart from the mind-blowing La Manga Club which offers every type of leisure facility imaginable.
Murcia: The World Health Organisation recently declared the province of Murcia the cleanest area in Spain with the least industrial pollution Until recently Murcia has been one of the least developed regions of coastal Spain. The region has its own special charm, not least because the coastline remains relatively unscathed by tourism and the major towns and small inland villages are still totally Spanish in character. Murcia enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and warm summers. It has more than 300 days of sun in the year.
Golf: With Sam Torrance as its Captain, the De Vere brand running the resort and even the ex Belfry Manager overseeing the golf here, you would expect a first class service. Roda Golf and Beach Resort give you just that. The world class designer Dave Thomas says he was pleased to have transformed a practically level piece of land into an undulating and interesting golf course. For the golfer there is an abundance of golf courses already in the area and many more are currently being completed. This region is steadily becoming famous for the variety of courses in such a small area.
