Siesta Key Condo Details
Siesta Key Public Beach/Crescent Beach: THE activity of Siesta Key is sunbathing, the beach and swimming. This condo puts all of these activities right in front of you. If have not visited Siesta Key before, you are about to find the most incredible sand you have ever experienced. The powder sugar white sand is actually quartz crystal and not silica or shell as found on other beaches. Many lay right on the sand without a towel or blanket to enjoy the coolness of this beach. On the hottest day of the year, this sand dissipates the heat and remains cool. You can walk barefoot on this sand without an uncomfortable feeling. Siesta Key Public Beach also provides areas for tennis, volleyball, baseball, soccer and a great childrens play area with swings, slides sand boxes and many other items to make this a child's dream. The park is very well maintained and life guards are on duty everyday.
Tropical Village of Siesta Key: From your vacation condo you are a one mile walk by beach or by road to the tropical Village of Siesta Key where food, side walk cafes, libations, shops, groceries or just plain fun is awaiting your arrival. This tropical bohemian village lends itself to the casual lifestyle of those who love the sun and beach. This is not a community that is familiar with formal dress, suits or ties and yet great restaurants are waiting to serve you memorable meals at an island pace. Whether you require authentic sushi from JoTo a fisherman owned restaurant, authentic Italian from Cafe Gabbiano, a special dish from Siesta Key's own Blase Cafe, or a New England meal from the Lobster Pot your palate will be impressed. We don't take food and beverage for granted on Siesta Key, our expectations are high.
Sarasota and surroundings: If you want to leave the Key, you will find many golf courses, theatres, museums, galleries and restaurants in Sarasota to enjoy. Sarasota is the home of Mote Marine, The Ringling Museum and John and Mable Ringling's beautifully restored bay side home, Ca D'Zan. This incredible 32-room residence has some of the feelings of the circus added to the architecture and furnishings. The Ringling Museum is built on those same grounds along with a casual restaurant and a unique circus museum, which details the history of the circus in the states that actually has its roots in Europe. A must for every women worth her salt, is St. Armand's Circle, which is on Lido Key that you will drive through on the way to Mote Marine. Shopping is the sport on the circle which has some of the nicest stores and boutiques that you will find anywhere along with great restaurants to help you build up more energy for shopping. There are no chain stores on St. Armand's Circle.
Golf: The Sarasota area has a number of semi-private golf courses that will welcome you to their links and club house. Bobby Jones Golf Club is a 45 hole municipal facility named for the legendary Robert Tyre Jones, Jr., who personally dedicated the facility on Sunday, February 13, 1927. This historic gem, initially designed by Donald Ross in 1926, has grown to include two 18-hole championship courses and a 9-hole executive course. A particularly unique feature of this complex is the absence of any building development on all but one golf hole. You can schedule your tea times up to five days in advance online on the American Couirse, the British Course or the 9 hole Executive Course. Sarasota claims title to being the 'Cradle of Golf' in the United States through a legendary story going back to 1886. Bobby Jones courses have challenged such immortals as Walter Hagen, Tommy Armour, Gene Sarazen and even the 'Babe', George Herman Ruth. In 1940 the longest playoff for a PGA event was held at both the Bobby Jones Course and nearby Sarabay C.C. when the PGA Seniors Championship tournament needed 36 playoff holes before Otto Hackbarth bested Jack Hutchinson 294 to 295. Past LPGA greats including Patty Berg, Babe Dedrickson Zaharias and Louise Suggs made Bobby Jones a regular tour stop in the mid 1950's. Visitors from around the globe have come to tee it up and walk these fairways steeped in golfing history. Current British Course record is 62 set by a local lad, Paul Azinger, in 1980.
Other Activities: sunbathing, tennis, volleyball
