The Property: Nature lovers and prairie enthusiasts will enjoy this modern home built to complement its magnificent surroundings. Prairie House's 120 Acres of glacial drumlin and wetland bays of Lake Sinissippi are part of the largest fresh-water marsh system in North America. The property includes two islands and more than a half mile of varied shoreline. Bald eagles, herons, egrets and deer are your neighbors when you visit this prairie-style home. The Prairie: The house is surrounded by 18 acres of restored prairie. 65 native flower species and 7 grasses provide a dynamic collage of color for three seasons.

Stroll through the prairie or the 14-acre woods and enjoy birdwatching, wildlife viewing, and morel hunting in spring. The Sullivans will gladly share their prairie successes and failures with guests - seed gathering and tours of the prairie can be arranged. The Lake: We provide 2 lightweight kayaks, a canoe and a rowboat for exploring the marshy bays where bald eagles, great blue heron, and white pelicans are frequently sighted. About 7 miles upstream from Lake Sinissippi is the Horicon Marsh National Wildlife Refuge, where over 260 species of birds have been documented, making it an attractive destination for birders and nature photographers.

Local Attractions: Fine Dining at the Historic Audubon Inn in Mayville; Horicon Marsh National Wildlife Refuge (hosts the Annual Horicon Marsh Bird Festival in May), Rock River Golf Course (18 holes), and Horicon Water Park (10 minutes drive); the Village of Hartford (20 minutes drive) offers the Schauer Performing Arts Center, Fitness Facilities, Tennis Courts, gourmet coffee shops, boutiques & restaurants, and Wisconsin Auto Museum (features antique Kissels). There are numerous Antique Shops (Columbus boasts the largest antique mall in the Midwest); or sample the Wisconsin cheeses and custard!

Golf: Activities: All seasons are great for hiking and birdwatching in prairie and woods; grill outdoors on the veranda overlooking the lake or roast marshmallows around the fire pit; volleyball equipment is provided for the large grassy backyard; boating (kayak, canoe, rowboat provided) - we have a pier and boathouse on the east bay, and there's a boat launch up the road for guests who bring their own water ski boat or jet ski; fishing (the white pelicans love the all-u-can-eat carp in the shallow marshy bays) - there's nearby Pike Lake or Beaver Dam Lake for pike, bluegill or walleye fishing; or bicycle the nearby Wild Goose State Trail. Guests are welcome to a variety of in-season berries, vegetables and herbs from the organic garden. In winter, ice skating, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, cross-country ski (groomed trails at Pike Lake), relaxing by the fire, ping-pong or pool in the game room, or soaking in the spa are just a few of many wonderful possibilities.
