Portland House Details
The updated old-fashioned kitchen is cute and has lots of light, portable dishwasher, and is fully equipped with everything you need to cook or bake. A walk through the welcoming Buckman neighborhood will take you past myriad vintage homes and lead to popular cafes and shops a few blocks away on Belmont and Hawthorne. The popular Salmon Street Bicycle Boulevard is just 3 blocks away.
One block to Grand Central Bakery or Jam on Hawthorne (a morning and lunch diner with vegan options), four blocks to the fabulous authentic Mexican restaurant, La Calaca Comelona. Ten blocks to the heart of the Hawthorne and Belmont Districts, with your choice of cafes, bookstores, and even a funky movie theater that serves pizza and beer. Fifteen blocks in another direction gets you to New Seasons, Portland's homegrown natural foods store. Ten minutes by bus or bike to downtown, for art galleries, theaters, and museums. You can take your bike on the bus and go almost anywhere you might wish to go from the downtown hub. By car, about 20 minutes from the airport, 5 minutes to downtown. 1.5 hours to the coast and 1 hour to cabins, hiking and skiing on Mt. Hood.
