Northport Cottage for Rent: Wyndenrok-on-the-Bay 160' bay frontage in Northport. New Rental! - Property 246365

New/Old Rental: After several years used exclusively by its owner family, Wyndenrok returns to the rental market as of today (June 9, 2009). Several guest families and individuals returned year after year during the 1970s - 1990s to enjoy quiet solitude and relaxing on Grand Traverse Bay. We have purposely kept the cottage comfortably rustic without TV (you are welcome to bring your own), computer, video games, etc. A multitude of board games and books, fireplace to gather on cool nights or fire pit on beach to roast marshmallows are the attractions our guests will prefer to enjoy with their family or friends. If that describes you, then consider Wyndenrok your vacation paradise! Antique and wicker furniture, chintz curtains, French doors, wood floors, and nice quality quilts/comforters and pillows invite you to relax in comfort enjoy the views.

Beachfront: Our property consists of 3 adjoining waterfront lots on Grand Traverse Bay for a total of 166' frontage. Water levels are low so there is about 100 feet of property between cottage and water. There are sandy areas with beach furniture, plenty of sun and shade. Much of the are in front of the cottage (lakeside) is covered with grasses and wildflowers (we do not have a luxurious large sandy beach). This is GREAT for bird watchers as we have a resident swan family, a single heron who drops in almost daily, ducks, and other birds (all at a distance). We leave binoculars on top of the piano for you to grab and take in the fauna. Swimming is fine here. The water is crystal clear and you can see the lake bottom even at 20 foot depth. Most people wear swimming shoes as lake bottom is rocky. You can also go 1/4 mile to a public small sandy beach or 1/2 mile to the very large sandy town beach (with restrooms, picnic area, and playground). Lake Michigan parks/beaches are 2 -3 miles away

Entertainment and Things to Do: Guests often enjoy walking along our road along the bay. Head north for a mile of semi-solitude or head south 1/2 mile to visit the shops, galleries, marina, parks, and beaches of Northport. You can bring your own kayak or canoe and carry it out to the water in front of the cottage or launch your boat at the town marina. We have one family who has rented our other cottage (Le Petit Maison - a few houses away) for many years. They bring their boat and moor it out in front of the cottage, enjoying water sports and fishing during the day but sleeping in cottage comfort at night! Bicycling is fantastic. We are on a flat road so easy for all to ride. Challenging hills are not far away. You can ride to the lighthouse on paved roads (I think it is about 6 miles).
