Cabin in the Briar in the National Park: For a refreshing short hike, the old service road along Porters Creek to the 'Cabin in the Briar' is highly recommended any time of the year. The cabin was built by the Smoky Mountains Hiking Club in the 1930s. It is now administered by the Park Service. It is a unique split level building and has a cantilevered barn nearby. The road to the Cabin is the route taken by one of the Park Service's Annual Wild Flower Pilgrimages about the third week in April. Kids love to put their feet in the cold water in the summer. Fly fishing is very popular in Porter's Creek. Many trails take off from this road, such as the 4 or 5 'Old Settler's Trails' which contain many rock walls and fallen chimneys made by the settlers before the Park was formed. The entrance to the road is about 5 miles toward Gatlinburg. For a more strenuous hike in this area try Ramsey Cascades, about 8 miles round trip, but the cascades are beautiful and a photograph taken by the owner is in the Bluieberry Hill cabin.

Swimming pools in Cobbly Nob: There are three swimming pools in the Village of Cobbly Nob. The largest one, and possibly the best one, is within walking distance of Blueberry Hill, although adults may prefer to ride to the sites. There is also a Tennis Court on the west side of the Village.

Ski: Ober Gatlinburg is an established Ski Resort with numerous ski slopes of easy to challenging runs. There is year round indoor ice skating and outdoor toboggan runs. Rental equipment is readily available. There is a large cable car from downtown Gatlinburg to the base of the slopes. For cross country skiing, many take the road, (closed to vehicular traffic in winter), to Clingman's Dome, the highest mountain in the park, at about 6600 feet in elevation. Parking is available at Newfound Gap.

Golf: The on-site Bent Creek Golf Course was designed by Gary Player and there is even a Gary Player Lane above the course.. The front nine is level and very beautiful with gorgeous Willow trees with small lakes and Webb Creek flowing through it. The hilly back nine can be challenging, but the views are worth it.
