There are four local ponds and Lake Wequaqet included in the pass. The National Seashore information center is located in Eastham about 30 minutes away. There are nature talks, walks, ranger programs, and movies explaining local flora, fauna, and topography. National Parks pass or fee will allow you to visit the cape's most unspoiled beaches..the National Seashore. Bike path from Visitor's Center will take you to one at no charge. Well worth a day trip. Near the Wellfleet Drive-In (take the kids one night for a treat) is the Audubon Center with exhibits, talks, hikes & birding along the bay.

Local Attractions: Centerville village has Four Seas Ice Cream, Penny Candy Store, Children's Playground. and Library. Osterville downtown Main Street has a beautiful center for shopping, strolling, and dining. Hyannis abounds with excellent restaurants, shopping, and a working harbor. You can ferry to Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket for the day, charter a fishing boat, whale watch or take a canal or harbor cruise. The Kennedy Museum is located on Main St. next to the post office. The Cape Cod Mall, Cape Cod Mall Cinema (12 theaters), Cape Cod Hospital, multiple golf courses, and miniature golf are 5-10 minutes away. The Melody Tent has an endless list of touring musicians, comics, and children's performances. You might want to book ahead as many events sell out quickly. The Barnstable County Fair runs July 17-25. Check events online. Sometimes dog shows, flower shows or rodeos use the fairgrounds to host their events. Barnstable Airport is 4 miles away and can fly you to Boston, NY, or the Islands.

Cape Cod Baseball League: Lastly let's not forget the high quality ball played here all summer. The Cape Cod Baseball League celebrates its 125th season this year. It consists of 10 teams of the finest collegiate athletes and others wishing to try out. These trials are open to the public. Currently 1 out of 7 major league players was on this summer league. Remember the movie. Hyannis has a team that plays in town and Cotuit has one that plays under the lights both 10-15 minutes away. You will find at least one game scheduled daily sometimes in the afternoon. Games are free and fun for everyone particularly the kids. They are often treated to free icecream, tee shirts, or other tokens to spark their interet in the sport.
