The Location: The Suagerties Long Dock offers privacy and a unique intimacy with the Hudson, yet you are only 1.5 miles from the center of town. Your closest neighbor is the Saugerties Light House. Wildlife is abundant, Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons, Osprey, Fox, Muskrat and River Otters are few of the animals that routinely cross the property. As a matter of fact any animal going up or down the river has to cross the road, or swim around the house. The Long Dock offers a very relaxing experience in a wonderfully natural and unspoiled setting.

The House: The original structure was built in 1877 as a steamboat landing, with the intent of opening Upstate NY to International commerce. It is one of 3 surviving landings and the only one in private ownership. The landing in Albany and Yonkers are in State Parks. In the 1920’s the site functioned as a ferry station. In the 50’s the facility was converted to a private residence as it is today. The house has great character. While nicely redone it retains many of the original features with wide pine floors and Wainscot ceilings and walls The large windows in the living room and master bedroom take advantage of the expansive views.

The River: The Hudson is a working river. The house is approximately 100 yards from the main channel, tugs, freighters and pleasure craft pass close enough to wave to their crews. This is not a static location; no two days are ever the same. Life on the river flows like a 24 hour a day movie. Your uninterrupted view North and South is about 25 miles.
