What a wonderful find: leave your cares behind and come to the historic Camp Como, now a beautifully restored 1910 Victorian home behind an electronic gate on 1.6 private river front acres abutting the Bohemian Grove. Walking through drifts of hydrangeas, redwood groves, willow trees, and rhododendrons, you will enjoy nature at its most beautiful. You'll also enjoy a spectacular river view, an expansive lawn, and your own private beach with kayaks. In the cool of the evening, you'll see the stars through the redwood trees in your hot tub in the garden. This property is truly spectacular in every way.

Sleeping 14, Como Estate has two upstairs bedrooms (king and queen beds) and a bedroom downstairs with a king bed. In addition there is a room at the foot of the stairs that has a queen bed (this room has no privacy from persons coming down the stairs or out of the bedroom across the stairway). The spacious living room, featuring a massive stone fireplace, opens to a large deck with gas barbecue. The living room has a queen sleeper in a sectional sofa and another sofa also has a pull-out queen bed. A short distance from the main house is a charming rustic cottage, sleeping two, built into a massive redwood stump; this cottage has its own river-view deck, but no bathroom.

There is seating for eight in the kitchen and additional outdoor tables on the deck off the kitchen seat additional guests. The main house has two baths, one with shower, the other with tub/shower. A few steps from the downstairs bedroom there is a plumbed toilet and shower in its own structure, with hot water, but the structure itself is not heated. If you want to stay connected, there is high-speed Internet access; just bring your laptop with an Ethernet card and cable.

Forestville is most convenient to wineries, Sebastopol, and Santa Rosa, followed by Guerneville and Monte Rio.
There is little difference in temperature between Guerneville and central Monte Rio. Forestville will be slightly warmer, while Duncans Mills and Cazadero will be slightly cooler. There is no air-conditioning here (with a few exceptions): the ocean breezes provide natural cooling at night and homes in warmer areas have fans. The Northwood golf course area is 2 - 3 miles west of Guerneville and, although this is technically Monte Rio, these homes are as close to Guerneville as they are to central Monte Rio.

Duncans Mills is close to the ocean, with some marine influence, yet still enjoys warm, sunny days in the summer.

Cazadero is redwood forest, with an all-year creek running through it; in general the most secluded homes will be found here.

Homes along the river are generally not as private as the homes along the creeks or in the forest, although there are exceptions. The river homes are rarely fenced and most will have some small degree of road noise since River Road, running along the river, is the main artery for the area. We do have some river homes free of all road noise. If this is a major issue for you, please ask us.

There is a 24-hour Safeway and a health food store in Guerneville and smaller markets in Forestville and Monte Rio, as well as a general store in Cazadero. On Hwy 166 north of Sebastopol, Andy's Market is worth a stop. There are video rentals in all towns except Duncans Mills. Guerneville has bicycle rentals. The best shopping is in Guerneville and Duncans Mills.

Boat rentals are in Guerneville, Monte Rio, and Duncans Mills. Boating depends upon river and weather conditions and many homes with boats have seasonal docks. We cannot guarantee boating will be possible or safe anytime other than mid-June through mid-September.
