Kapoho House Summary
Lagoon House is the epitome of a piece of paradise. This home is built on the premiere swimming spot at Kapoho and features a huge, crystal clear, private lagoon that is stocked with exotic tropical fish – it’s nothing short of having your own 500,000 gallon snorkeling aquarium right in your back yard!
The Lagoon House features a spacious living room, dining room, kitchen, master bedroom with queen size bed and single bed, a second bedroom with dobule bed and small loft bed, 1 bathroom and lots of deck overlooking the lagoon and ocean.
Downstairs is a large, shady lanai at waters edge, a third bedroom with bunk beds and a second bathroom with shower and changing room.
A two-car carport includes an enclosed laundry, storage area and barbecue grill. The yard is beautifully landscaped with flowering shrubs, palm tress, a manicured lawn and other tropical plantings.

Pahoa, about 9 miles from Kapoho, offers plenty of options for groceries, supplies and fun shopping. Several markets, including a top-notch natural foods market and a 24 hour convenience store, a fish market, a farmer’s market, half-a-dozen good restaurants (two of which are *very* good), a live music club, video store, and an ever-changing array of colorful and offbeat shops selling hand-crafted souvenirs, tropical plants and flowers, original art and island apparel can be found in this bohemian village center. Hilo, county seat and the island’s largest city, is about 20 miles from Pahoa. A bastion of Hawaiian history and culture, Hilo is home to museums, botanical gardens and cultural centers. Each April Hilo hosts the Merrie Monarch Festival; often called the “Olympics of Hula.” Hilo also offers supermarkets and shops, golf courses, state of the art movie theaters, many fine restaurants and a laid back Aloha atmosphere that is treasured by locals and visitors alike.

For fans of the 'The Wizard Of Oz', there is an extraordinary collection of personal, stage and screen memorabilia of Ray Bolger who played the Scarecrow in this classic movie. A custom cabinet contains Ray Bolger's dance shoes, top hat, and numerous photos and awards from his personal collection. Gwen and Ray Bolger's niece Ann Rickard, is the partner and wife of Lagoonhouse owner, Richard Thompson. They live nearby on their 6 acre organic farm and will provide beautiful bouquets of tropical flowers and organic fresh fruit in season-avocados, bananas, starfruit, etc. during your stay. For families with young children, we also have a new playpen and a large selection of toys, building blocks and children's books.
