San Miguel de Allende House Details
TRANSPORTATION: American, Delta, Continental, Mexicana, and AeroMexico service Leon airport (BJX) and Queretaro (QRO.) We use Leandro Tours, leandrotours@hotmail.com for transport to and from San Miguel de Allende. They also provide transportation for sight- seeing. If you choose to fly into Mexico City there is a first class service bus transport (approx 3 hour trip) There are rental cars available at the airport through Hertz, Avis, etc. A local company rents cars in San Miguel. Parking is available at various lots throughout the town as well as on the street (this is limited!)
Restraunts: Our favorites include: Romano's (rooftop) Bugambilia (traditional Mexican) Bella Italia (make sure to see Gil and Cartas with special guest, Doc Severinson) Ole! Ole! (great for lunch, bullfighting kitsch, margaritas) Don Rincon (right on the central square) D0 NOT patronize restaurant just to left of Cathedral! All others are fine! Cafe on back patio of Fabrica Aurora Design Center- lunch time! Food Factory at Fabrica Aurora- nice ambiance La Finestra- beautiful courtyard, 'slow food', near Instituto Allende Lots of others all through town- new ones opening all the time!
Entertainment: Above-mentioned group, Gil and Cartas, often with Doc Severinson- the best in town! Check Portal San Miguel and Attencion online for films, music, classes, gallery openings, lectures Throughout the year San Miguel hosts many festivals- jazz, chamber music, short film, etc There are many holidays celebrated throughout the year, as well- September is a particularly celebratory month!
