The Swiss Chalet: This private Swiss Chalet, on Wellesley Island, located on prestigious Millionaire’s row was built primarily as a rental property for George Boldt’s (Waldorf Astoria fame) wealthy friends. This historic (George Boldt’s) home is featured in George Fischer’s and Anthony Mollica’s Castles and Cottages: River Retreats of the Thousand Islands.
Things to do: From this exquisite property you can walk and play at one of the two gulf courses, play tennis or you many dine at the Thousand Island Yacht club or tour the Boldt Castle and Yacht house; or you may drive to Clayton and visit the popular Antique Boat museum where numerous shops and restaurants abound. Wellesley Island houses many large and old Victorian homes. This waterfront property and spectacular scenery is unsurpassed and is available for the first time and has an incredible view of the main channel on the St. Lawrence Seaway where you can watch the beautiful ships from around the world, tour the islands with Uncle Sam’s Boat tours and watch the antique boats cruise on by. The history of Wellesley Island is remarkable; the original membership fee to this golf club was $100,000: when Mr. Singer (sewing machines), Mr. Macys (department store) and Mr. Pullman (trains) joined, and just think, you can play here now.
Amenities: The amenities surrounded in this treasure are a sleep setting for eight: Private front & back deck, three bedrooms, two queen beds, two twin beds, one queen sofa bed, 3 ½ bathrooms, three cable TV’s., internet access, fireplace, barbeque grill, washer & dryer and as you’ll see is completely furnished. The crystal clear water is perfect for swimming, fishing and boating. Docking accommodates a 25 ft. boat and also a ski-doo or skiff.
