Three Oaks House Summary

Charming red brick house 2 blocks from downtown Three Oaks, MI, a civic minded town 10 minutes from the expansive beaches of Lake Michigan. Three Oaks is not only home to a gourmet bakery, an art movie theater, the Acorn Theatre, a National Historic Landmark butcher, yoga studio, Apple Cider Century bike ride and outstanding public library, but is also a gateway to all the towns and countryside of Harbor Country. Only 1.5 hours from Chicago, our home has a big yard and deck, grill, wood burning fireplace and several bikes for your use and enjoyment, as well as TV, DVD, and plenty of books and board games for kids. Three Oaks is the cultural capital of Harbor Country with weekly outdoor concerts, the annual Apple Cider Century Bike Ride, live theater in an historic converted factory and a wonderful art movie theater showing two interesting movies each week. In ten minutes you are at a beach which rivals any or whisked to the past at a soda fountain in the back of a pharmacy. You can pick blueberries and eat the finest peaches, nectarines and apples you can imagine. There is no end to the possibilities for fun in Southwest Michigan!

Nature and Outdoor Opportunities: Besides the excellent beaches, blueberry and fruit picking opportunities and the fantastic Three Oaks Saturday Farmers Market, you can rent bikes in town at the Dewey Cannon Trading Company (http://www.applecidercentury.com/rentals.htm), visit several beautiful wooded areas within a short drive (Warren Woods State Park-3 miles) or head up and down 100 foot high dunes at Grand Mere State Park near Stevensville (20 miles North) or at the Warren Dunes State Park (6 miles North). Also, for the kids, Captain Mikes north on Red Arrow Highway has go carts for older and younger children, batting cages and a game room.

Adventures in Town: There are several unique communities in Harbor Country, all worth a visit (Union Pier, Lakeside, New Buffalo, Sawyer, Harbert) and many lovely towns further afield (South Haven, Douglas, Benton Harbor, Saugatuk, Grand Haven, Holland, etc.) each with their own fascinating histories and regular festivals. The entire area is chockablock with antique stores and wonderful restaurants. Your vacation can be as busy as you like or as quiet as you wish.
