Hydra Island Villa Summary
A large 5 bedroom luxury home built in the 18th century all with marble an-suite bathrooms. This mansion once housed a nobleman and his staff. It has now become one of the most comfortable homes on the island of Hydra. The house has great views of the Mediterranean sea on one side, and views of the village on the other. Lots of outside terrace areas for outdoor eating and sunbathing. The house also has a private swimming pool and its gardens are maintained to a high standard. The island of Hydra is very peaceful because there are no cars. The only form of transport is by foot or by donkey! Architectural features include marble floors throughout, high wooden ceilings, grey stone terraces and stone walls surrounding the property and arched door entrances and windows. The vacation house is also decorated with original art work, echoing Hydra's rich artistic heritage, which has produced artists, painters and important politicians. The bustling town of Hydra is only a ten minutes walk.

The island of Hydra is a quiet paradise and unique as it has no cars, no motorbikes, and no buses, only donkeys. The port village of Hydra is lively and offers a great range of restaurants and bars as well as some great sea-perched cocktail bars. The island attracts a discerning traveler who enjoy walking the narrow white washed streets and sampling the excellent cuisine. The harbour is filled with small designer jewelery shops, galleries, great bakeries, cafes, and excellent restaurants. Since the only form of transport is donkey, the pace of Hydra has slowed down to a relaxing dreamy level. Hydra life also revolves around the bustling harbour and its comings and goings of sailing boats and ferry's. For a small fee, one can take small fisherman boats to different beaches or even rent a boat for a whole day and bring your own picnic. The more expensive water taxis (speed boats) also operate a daily service. You can also walk to the many beaches and stop off for dinner on return.
