Hague Chalet Details
Swimming, Boating and Hiking: A path directly across from the house provides swimming access to Lake George. Children should always be supervised; swimmers must climb in and out from a large, flat rock. Public beaches are available at both Hague village, 2.5 miles south, and (for a small entry fee) Rogers Rock State Campground, 1 mile north. Boat put-ins are also available at both places for a fee. Boats and jet skis can be rented at Dockside Marina in Hague. The Adirondacks is full of wonderful hiking trails, including nearby a trail to Jabe's Pond, a small hidden paradise filled with loons; the Tongue Mountain trail that leads to fabulous Lake George views; and hikes up the mountains to Sunrise Peak and Inspiration Point, for experienced climbers.
Other Activities: An 18-hole golf course is open to the public at Ticonderoga Country Club just a few miles north. Horseback riding can be found at Diamond Point, about 25 minutes south, and Chestertown. Other points of interest include Fort Ticonderoga, a restored site just 10 minutes north, the Adirondack Museum in Blue Lake, and the honky tonk wonders of Lake George Village. A drive into the Adirondacks will reward with terrific views of the High Peaks; at Lake Placid, don't miss the John Brown historic house, or the elevator ride to the top of the Olympic ski jump tower!
