Great Barrington House Summary

For rent is a cute 6-room-long Country Cottage with a view of the Lake from every one of its pine-panelled rooms: Livingroom, 18' Lounge (family room), Dining room, well equipped Kitchen, 2 Bedrooms, and a remarkablly spacious Bathroom with shower, plus a Half Bath. Lots of privacy. 4 people would be a comfortable fit, but 6 is our maximum. A door from the Lounge opens to a 26' wooden deck, that itself overlooks the Lake, where you'll find 2 chaises, deck chairs, and an umbrella table, plus the gas grill. From the deck a path leads down through open woods to the shore of our private Cove, or you may go down the owner's stone steps next door to the Dock, where 2 canoes are kept for your use. You also can rent kayaks in Great Barrington which the store will deliver, and pick up when you leave. Happy to email link to WEB ALBUM. Please, no smoking on the property, and pets are not allowed.

Lake Buel is a jewel in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. It is near all the sights and sounds and scenery you've heard of that draw one to this area. The Little House is on the shore of Lake Buel, a half mile down a private dirt road through a pleasant lakeside community that has been in existence for over 100 years. The understory of its ages-old pine forest is home to countless birds and animals. Fall is the perfect time to see (and hear) migrating birds, sometimes in enormous flocks, stopping over on their flight south for a little R and R.

  • The Second Bedroom, an enclosed sleeping porch with sliding windows on three sides, is directly off the Queen Bedroom. The Lounge (large family room) on the opposite end of the house has a 'hi-rise' (trundle) couch which opens to twin beds. Linens are not provided, except for bath mats and kitchen towels, but blankets and quilts are. The Queen bed has its own electric blanket. The Queen bedroom, Living room and Lounge all have baseboard heat.

The Little House is comfortably nestled: on a quiet old-fashioned country dirt road that beckons one to walk (or bike) along it, if only to see what lies around the bend. Fall days can be warm and seductive in the Berkshires, sometimes chilly, always exhilarating. The Lake mirrors changing trees in all their splendid colors against a gentle background of the beautiful Berkshire hills that surround it. The world and all its troubles are left behind, when all that seems to matter is exploring the countryside, relaxing with a good book, or cuddling up with the one you love.

Great Barrington: is a mere 7 miles away. It is famous for great shopping and its many what-kind-of-food-are-we-hungry-for-tonight restaurants.
