Hotel amenities: Hacienda Pinilla is the home of the new JW Marriott, 5 star flagship hotel to be completed in 2008. This 5000 acre resort prides itself in protecting the environment, is an Audubon Society reserve and hosts an array of wildlife: including birds, frogs, iguanas, turtles and howler monkeys. This hotel will offer additional restaurants, luxury spa, and numerous activities. A small boutique hotel in the development (Posada del Sol) offers restaurant dining as well as personnel to help arrange outside activities such as Canopy Tours (zip lining through the trees), fishing excursions, spa treatments, etc..

Horseback riding: Enjoy a leisurely ride through the rain forest to a high point on the Hacienda Pinilla property where a 360 degree view can be seen of the entire development and Pacific Ocean. Howler monkeys and other local wildlife are visible during the ride. The ride ends with a stroll on the beautiful pristine beaches of Hacienda Pinilla. The horses are meticulously groomed and the caballaros and staff are extremely helpful. All levels of riding are available. Horseback riding, rodeo events, parades of carts drawn by locally bred cattle and celebrations of the patron saints are some of the activities coordinated by Hacienda Pinilla, which, apart from being recreational and entertaining, are also important reminders of the traditions in the Guanacaste area.

Tennis: Tennis players will enjoy playing at this new tennis facility. Instruction is available on request. Please bring your own rackets and balls.

Golf: The development of Hacienda Pinilla has one of the most beautiful 18 hole golf courses in the Guanacaste region. The 7,300-yard, par 72 masterpiece golf course is the creation of Mike Young, who is responsible for some of the finest courses in the southern United States. Each hole was designed to conform to the slopes and contours of the natural landscape. Not only has he met the highest standards required by international golf organizations in building the course, but recently the property earned certification as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary for its preservation of the ecological balance of the area.
