Available during the summer months, the Museum of the Yellowstone and the famous Playmill Theater offer fun filled recreation for kids as well as adults. 'Elk Crossing' is only 10 minutes from the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park! You can pick a guided tour of Yellowstone National Park or you can experience this natural wonder on your own schedule. There is plenty to do: world class fly-fishing, hiking, horseback riding, rock climbing, white water rafting, kayaking, bird and wildlife viewing, boating, water skiing, shopping and sightseeing, just to name a few. West Yellowstone and the surrounding area offer a multitude of dining possibilities.
Winter activities can be enjoyed right out the front door! You can snowmobile from the driveway and connect with trails right down the street, with over 500 miles of groomed trails in the area. There is plenty of space for parking cars or snowmobiles. Other winter activities include cross country skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding and ice fishing, and are all available close by. Remember, the entrance to Yellowstone National Park is only 7 miles away! You can choose to go on a snowcoach tour or take a guided snowmobile trip - either way you will love Yellowstone in the winter! (Available from mid-December to the first part of March). Cross country skiing can be enjoyed on the Rendezvous Ski Trails in West Yellowstone, offering over 35 kilometers of winding groomed trails that meander through the Gallatin National Forest. Going North 50 miles to Big Sky, MT, you will find the best of Rocky Mountain downhill skiing.
