Kapoho House Details
Sights to See: Vacationland lies next to the Waiopae tidepool Reserve. You can snorkel all day and see so many colorful fish and different types of coral. Down the road are the hot ponds, then Isaac Hale Park and Pohoiki Bay. From here and beyond is the famous 'Red Road' with it's beautiful scenery that leads to the end of the road in Kalapana where the lava met the fate of the town. Volcanoes National Park is only about 30 miles away and makes a great day trip. Hilo is also about 30 miles in the other direction with lots of museums, theaters, waterfalls, shops, beaches, parks and so much more. The little town of Pahoa is a quaint old-fashioned wooden front town with a few excellent restaurants, several banks, shops, and also small grocery stores. You'll want to stop at the Makuu Farmer's Market on Sundays for the local fresh fruit and vegetables and local crafts. You can taste fruit that you've never seen before there. Travel through the tunnel of trees and walk in Lava Tree Park.
Guest Book: 'The house was perfect! It provided everything we needed. There was plenty of room for everyone. We had a great family vacation here and we can't wait to come back.' - The Short Family, Albany, GA 'Thank you! What a beautiful home you have here in Paradise. We were so comfortable here it was very hard to leave. Snorkeling in the tide pools was incredible. Hiked out to new black sand beach (Kaimu) and could see the plumes of smoke/steam from lava flow to the west. But we enjoyed the comfy chairs on the lanai and the early morning rain best of all. Mahalo' - Jill, Tim, Jesse, Audrey and Sarah, Petaluma, CA
Other Activities: Hiking on the lava fields, sightseeing
