Nestled in the heart of central Austin, our modern guest house will provide the perfect location for all of your Austin activities. This luxurious retreat was completely remodeled last year with 1 bedroom, 1 bath, 1 living w/full kitchen, a washer/dryer and a private wooded backyard and patio. Located just off Lamar, you are about a mile from Austin's best grocery stores (Whole Foods and Central Market), walking distance to the University of Texas and a short drive to any downtown location. You will be across the street from Austin's legendary Caswell Tennis Courts and across the street from Pease Park where you will find the Shoal Creek hike and bike trail leading to Town Lake as well as a frisbee golf course. A cab to the heart of downtown is about $7 and bus stops are nearby. You will feel safe and comfortable perched on a hillside hidden behind an Austin landmark. The front house was an elementary school for over 40 years (the headmaster actually lived in the guest house)!

Located at Lamar and 24th, we are between UT campus (east), Old Enfield (west), Central Market (north) and the Whole Foods flagship store on 6th and Lamar. Enjoy a short drive to downtown or walk/jog at one of the park trails located across the street. Downtown, the warehouse district, town lake and other central attractions are a 20 minute walk, a short drive or an inexpensive taxi ride away. From our house, you can easily kayak on Town Lake, ride a road bike or a mountain bike on numerous trails, tour hill country wineries, or rent a boat on Lake Travis or play tennis across the street. Of course amazing Austin restaurants and bars can be found in all directions. Our proximity to Mopac (Loop 1) and IH-35 make it easy to get across--or out of--town.

Notes: The unit for rent is a recently renovated guest house located behind an old 1930's elementary school. The historic school is soon to be renovated. There are a few sets of outdoor stairs to navigate when approaching the unit in back, but once there you will feel like you are away from the hustle and bustle of central Austin. There is also a hidden pathway in the trees behind the apartment that you can 'hike' up if you are feeling adventurous, to get to our charming West Campus neighborhood.


Austin Apartment Details

Make yourself at home...: Everything in this guest house was custom built and furnished with personal attention to every detail. You will enjoy amenities such as high speed wireless Internet (computer available upon request), a large flat-screen TV with DVD player and VCR with Bose surround sound speakers for watching movies, a monitored security system, recessed lighting throughout, maple floors and lots of windows. The appliances and fixtures are all new (within the last 2 years). The kitchen is easy to use with anything you would need to prepare meals, even a panini maker--yum. The bed features a plush, high-end pillow top mattress with a chocolate velvet comforter and ultra-soft, high thread count sheets. You will no doubt sleep like a baby in this cozy bedroom. You will find our guest house clean and well-appointed. We like to think of it as simple, uncluttered, modern luxury.

Truly convenient location...: Okay, so you have to go up quite a few stairs to get to our place, but aside from that, it is simply convenient to almost anything you want to do. We have guides waiting for you with all our favorite restaurant menus to help you decide whether you want to pick up a few things at Whole Foods or Central Market (both nearby) or sample some of Austin's amazing locally-owned restaurants. Our guides will also help you find a place nearby to rent movies, sip late night coffee, go for a morning jog, get some delicious ice cream, play tennis, swim, meet friends for live music, go for a drive in the hill country, enjoy the lake, see some historic Austin sites, and much more. We even have frisbee golf discs for you to play across the street. There is a bus stop about 1 minute walking distance from the house. A walk to UT and the drag takes about 10 minutes. Head straight down Lamar for a couple of miles and you will hit 6th Street. A cab is a great way to get to and from downtown for about $7.
