Keaau House Summary

Plumeria Place House is located ocean front 70ft from the water on a gorgeous coastline. Large panoramic windows allow for 180% unobstructed views of crashing waves, lava cliffs and palms trees on both sides as far as the eye can see. In this area humpback whales are often seen breaching. Sightings of the rare Hawaiian Monk seal are often reported. Dolphin and porpoise jump and play all along the coast. A short walk up the road brings one to a wonderland of tide pools and ocean front jungle-a gorgeous place to picnic, walk or hang out. A short drive up the road brings one to tide pools so large ten people can submerge together in nature's jacuzzi by the sea. The house is a 5 minute drive to gas, groceries and local food. A twenty minute drive brings you to the heart of Hilo town. A forty minute drive takes you up to the famous volcano. Also just twenty minutes away is a volcanically heated large pool by the sea known as 'the hot ponds' by the locals. It's Ahalanui state park.

Plumeria Place is located in the heart of Puna. Puna is just south of historic Hilo town. It is a lush area known for its dense jungle, rain forests, wild orchids, the volcano, beautiful rugged coastlines and beaches. It is a natural wonderland. A perfect place for snorkeling as we have some of the islands best tide pools in an area known as Kapoho. You can also view lava flows and lava fields. One can still see the devastation of the flow that took out Kalapana town in the eighties. In Hilo you can enjoy museums, fine dinning, beaches, and sight seeing.

Notes: House has flight of stairs in front and back. Also full of artifacts and antiques. Pool is not fenced and no lifeguard is on site. May not be suitable for children under seven years of age-please let us know if children are in your party. There is an on site property caretaker. He is there to assist you with an needs, questions, concerns or information you may need during your stay. You will however have your full privacy as he will not make his presence known unless asked. A dog may be seen, he is friendly and quiet. He will be kept out of site if there is anyone who is afraid of dogs.

Merrie Monarch Festival: In the month of April the Merrie Monarch Festival is held. Hula groups from around the Islands and world come to compete in this week long event. This is a must see if you are here in April.

Ski: There is skiing an snow boarding on top of the volcano Mauna kea. Only for advanced skiers.

Golf: There is a golf course in Hilo town with very reasonable rates.
