Recreation Activities: The City of Venice operates six public tennis courts, well-lit for evening play in downtown Venice, and two at a nearby county park. There are also numerous public and private clubs which offer clay and hard court tennis. There are about a dozen golf courses in the area. The Venice Fishing Pier, located behind Sharky's Restaurant, is an ideal place for inshore fishing. For the more-adventurous angler, however, charter operations abound. Summer is an ideal time to catch tarpon in nearby Boca Grande Pass, one of the most exciting fishing spots in all of Florida.
Nearby Attractions: If you can can drag yourself away from beautiful Venice Florida, there are many attractions nearby that you can visit. Most are near enough that you can take a day trip to see them so you can return to the serenity of out lovely community for an evening of dining, entertainment and relaxation. A few of these attractions are: Adventure Island, Bok Tower Gardens, Busch Gardens, Clearwater Beach, Cypress Gardens, Disney World, Florida Aquarium, Jungle Gardens, Ringling Museum, Tampa Official World Wide Web Site, Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, Mote Marine Aquarium, Sea World, and Universal Studios.
Dining and shopping: From quaint boutiques to modern department stores, the Greater Venice Area has what it takes to make shopping a pleasure. When visiting historic downtown Venice, shoppers will find a rich variety in the colorful shops along Venice, Tampa and Miami Avenues, housed in restored buildings of 1920s vintage now on the National Register of Historic Buildings.
