Pine Island House Details
Restaurants & Shopping: Bokeelia end. Capt.Cons has the best pies ever! My personal favorites are Key Lime & Coconut Cream. Lazy Flamingo has great seafood. My boys can't wait to get there every year for the steam pot. Sunset dining is enoyed at Tarpon Lodge. Fish & steak at Red's. Pork Bellies, in the center of the island, is one of my dad's favorites for bar-b-que ribs & corn bread. St. James City end. Jackie's has the best garbage omlet. Great dining at several others. Matlache(10 minutes) has the Oyster House, ice cream shops, & hot dog stand. Cape Coral(20 minutes) Outback, Carraba's, I Hop, Bob Evans, & more. Ft.Myers(30 minutes) with a wide varity of restaurants. On island shopping consists of Winn Dixie & CVS pharmacy. Matlache has quaint little shops, & art galleries. Cape Coral has Publix, Walmart, Target, & more. Ft. Myers everything.
Fishing, Boating, Relaxing.: My family has been coming to Pine Island every year for 50 years. It is so peaceful & quiet. The people here are so friendly. We all love to fish, mostly for trout, whiting, grouper, redfish, snook, & sheepshead. Being out on the water fishing is so relaxing. You will enjoy lots of wildlife on the water too; manatee, dolphin, pelican, sea gulls, bald eagles, etc. It's just so beautiful!!
Local Attractions: St. James City Community Center & Pine Island Center has swimming, water aerobics classes, yoga, card games, a park, lighted tennis courts, ballfields, & a library with internet access. Fraternity Lodges include American Legion, Elks, VFW, & Moose. Churches of all denominations. Full service marinas with boat & kayak rentals, charter fishing trips, ferry boat trips to other islands for beaches and shelling. Sidewalks for walking, biking, roller blading, golf carts, & etc. Matlache with the 'fishingest bridge in the world' & quaint art shops.
Golf: 18-hole golf course.
