Hancock Barn Details
Getting Wet: Swimming on the property is in our pond, which is about 100-150 feet long, 50-75 feet wide, and 9-12 feet deep in the middle. It’s located just a few minutes walk on a meadow path from the Barn, within view, at the bottom of the main meadow. There is no swimming pool. For beach swimming, boating and lake fishing, Cherry Plains State Park is very close by, with Queechy Lake in Canaan and Lake Pontoosuc in Lanesborough/Pittsfield each just a little farther away.
Staying Cool: Our air conditioner (one bedroom), ceiling fan (main room) and other desktop fans are seldom used, since we catch a nice breeze coming up from the meadow. For the odd mid-summer cool evening, a cheery fire is perfect in either our stone fireplace or our wood burning stove.
Spreading Out: Optionally available, a separate, ground-floor (below 1st floor) apartment with double-bed, living-room/kitchen and full-bath, suitable for a live-in maid, nanny or home health-care aide. This apartment has its own entrance or can be accessed internally via the ground-level “garage” area, and will not be rented out separately. It is only available as an add-on to the main house. FOR EXTRA LARGE GROUPS/FAMILIES, also inquire about available guest cottage (or see listing #172656), also available only as an add-on to the main house in the summertime, but available as a separate rental in winter.
