The park, only 2 miles away from the cottage, has miles of trails through old growth forest, great swimming holes, picnic shelters, baseball diamond and swings for the 'kid in you.' Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Rainier, ocean beaches and the Columbia River Gorge are close enough for short day trips by car and it is less then two hour drive to the urban centers of Seattle or Portland. Also along Byway #6 you can visit the Chehalis-Centralia Railroad's steam train for a nostalgic ride along the Chehalis River. Take a leisurely bike ride along miles of country roads and visit the neighboring town of Dryad the site of an 1890's ghost town just a half miles away. Fish for Rainbow and Cutthroat Trout from the deck of the cottage or visit the fish ladder at the falls just a few steps away to observe salmon as they migrate up-stream in the spring and fall.
