Less than 20 minutes to all Coastal activities in Boothbay Harbor, Pemaquid, Rockport or Camden. Outstanding summer retreat offering endless outdoor activity. The Damariscotta area is at the head of the Pemaquid Peninsula which boasts the Maine state quarter's famed Pemaquid Light. The area is vibrant with art galleries, antiques, boutique shops, live theater and outstanding restaurants. Step back in time in the many historical museums and activities re-enacting the way life used to be. Participate as a 'local' in ice cream socials, fireworks, and parades in the summer and ice cutting in February and maple sugar Sunday in March. There are always countless community suppers, benefits, and silent auctions. Take in the outdoors by visiting the multiple parks, preserves, and sanctuaries. Enjoy the sea with boating excursions and the rivers with kayak and canoe tours. Then visit the tree lined sandy crescent beach at Pemaquid State Park. Winter offers opportunities for snowmobiling, ice fishing, cross country skiing, and ice skating.
