Kailua Kona House Details
Access to lots of Beaches!: If you stay at a resort or private home near a beach, you will tend to see only one or two beaches. Mango House is within 30 minutes of over a dozen ... black sand, white sand, turtles, and mixed shells and lava pebbles. Our beaches are all very different. Snorkel at Kahal'u Beach for protected waters, 2-step beach for amazing coral (and often dolphins), Akulu Beach for swimming and snorkeling, Magic Sands beach for body surfing, etc, etc. Hapuna is frequently named as one of the top 10 beaches in the US.
Amazing eco-tourism and archeology abound: Mango house is 6 miles from where King Kamahamaha I is thought to have been buried. Beautiful petroglyphs (some with their meanings lost to time) can be found near the small boat harbor. An amazing cloud forest with native birds and trails lies above Mango House on the slope of Hualalai volcano ... just 10 minutes up Kaloko Dr. An organic Kona coffee farm (Mountain Thunder) provides tours of their operation when you show up. Big game fishing departs every morning from Honokohou small boat harbor 5 miles away
Away from the other tourists ...: Ali'i drive is the center of tourist activities in Kona. Shops and restaurants abound, lining Kailua Bay ... just 10-15 minutes away from the Mango House. Dine, walk, enjoy the evening and then return to your private home!
