Duck House Details
Getting There: From Norfolk, VA, take Highway 64 to Route 158. Continue south to North Carolina. Take the Highway 158 Bridge to Kitty Hawk and the Outer Banks. Make a left turn onto NC12. Follow it North through the village of Duck. Travel north to the community of Sanderling. Look for Milepost 4.5. Immediately after the milepost, you’ll cross a small bridge. Take the next right onto Waxwing Lane. Your right turn will take you onto Waxwing Lane, where you’ll come to an immediate fork in the road. Turn left onto Waxwing Lane (Waxwing Court is to the right). Your destination is 117 Waxwing Lane. The sign on the house reads 'Balinakill.'
Your Destination: You'll find that Sanderling is a unique area on the Outer Banks with lush vegetation, manicured common areas, and well-kept nature trails. With ample space between homes, the narrow land enables views of the sound to the west and ocean to the east from the upper level of Balinakill. It’s 125 yards to the beach--just across the cul-de-sac, up the wooden steps, and over the dune. Take off your shoes. Feel the water and sand squish between your toes.
