There is an Audoban Bird Sanctuary easement adjacent to the property. The 8+/- acres on the south side of the road is wooded with old paths throughout. The area roads are blacktopped and flat providing for an easy walk or bike ride.

Where Eagles Soar : The eagles are back, but they are sometimes eclipsed by the osprey who nest atop a pole in the river directly in front of the house. The osprey come in March to hatch and raise their offspring in warm weather and then fly south in October. Bring your binoculars if you are a birder for there is much to turn your eyes skyward. Herds of deer roam this area and can often be seen on their hind legs eating the apples in the orchard; however no hunting is allowed . Crabs are plentiful during season and can be caught in the crab trap provided or off the dock with string, bait and a crab net. Fishing is pretty good too. A crab pot is available and the outdoor gas grill has a separate burner for cooking seafood.
