Interior of Mountain Lake Cabin:: Mountain Lake Cabin, a 1508 sq.ft. 3 bedroom/2 bathroom half acre property, has a queen sleeper couch in the loft and sleeps 8 comfortably. This fully equipped and tastefully furnished cabin has a Great Room with floor to ceiling windows. The log staircase and vertical logs supporting the cathedral ceiling add to the rustic charm of this lovely mountain home. Knotty pine tongue and groove walls and ceilings, pine plank flooring, slate tiles and plush carpet create a cozy and rustic atmosphere in the cabin. Comfortable furnishings welcome you to a very relaxing experience! A fully equipped kitchen with breakfast bar and stools opens onto the Great Room, with two comfortable leather couches, a recliner, and a corner cast iron gas stove backed by a floor to ceiling river rock wall. The first floor master bedroom has a log bed, and the master bathroom has a full bath/shower. In the rear of the cabin is a large mudroom, that has a washer and dryer, and a door to the rear deck.

More about Mountain Lake Cabin:: The rear deck is very private, and looks out over the adjoining Targhee National Forest that rises to the heights of Sawtelle Mountain. To the side of the cabin in the rear is a firepit, where you can gather to roast marshmallows, share the day's activities and reminisce... Up the log stairs is a large loft with a queen-size pullout couch, an overstuffed chair with ottoman, and a wood rocking chair. It is a cozy place to talk, read, or watch movies on DVD or satellite TV. There are two upstairs bedrooms; one with a queen bed and the other with a pair of twin beds. The upstairs bathroom has a large shower. Up the log ladder, tucked under the apex of the cathedral ceiling, is an eagle's nest loft. Out front, the extensive wraparound deck with log railing looks out over the front yard with its quaking aspens and pine trees, which create a great sense of seclusion. Look forward to casual meals and BBQs here, as you enjoy the view and the sound of the quaking aspens.

National Parks & things to do around the cabin:: You can take interesting day-trips into Yellowstone Park, which is only a half hour away. This Park is a wonderland of rivers, lakes, waterfalls, canyons, boiling mud pots and spouting geysers, and is home to elk, deer, moose, bison, wolves, coyotes, and bears, as well as many birds of prey. Teton National Park, only 84 miles to the southeast, is also well within reach for day trips. Up the road is Meadow View Ranch, where you can experience the Old West. During the summer the ranch offers horseback riding and and rodeos with BBQs 3x/wk. Island Park Reservoir is popular for water skiing, swimming and sightseeing. Henry's Lake and surroundings area is famous for fly fishing. Do check out the Upper and Lower Mesa Falls (drive south on Highway 20). Both falls are spectacular. If you're looking for a rich western vacation experience in secluded, beautiful surroundings, with easy access to Yellowstone and Teton National Parks, you're sure to enjoy your stay at Mountain Lake Cabin.

Guest Book: What a gracious up/scale home away from home...Everything far exceeded any expectations that we might have had! The amenities were 'over the top'! We had expected to leave the cabin relaxed and rested, but there were too many fun things to do during our stay. Took 2 Yellowstone tours as well as spending time in West Yellowstone shopping and taking in the local sights. Be sure to see Earthquake Lake on the loop coming back to Island Park. Highly recommend going to see Meadow View Ranch down the road from the cabin in the summer. Thoroughly enjoyed their 'Steer cutting' competition over Labor Day weekend. They serve a great BBQ! We also enjoyed a few dinners at the Island Park Resort. It's a REAL PLACE FROM THE PAST! Had a great breakfast at a West Yellowstone local hangout called 'The Red Pancake House' or something really close to that. All in all, a fabulous week. Thanks so much! Diane Petrash, CA.
