Manaquayak Preserve - unique fresh water swimming: Manaquayak Preserve, one of the newest Martha's Vineyard Land Bank properties, is a short 5-minute walk from the house. This 12-acre property contains a pristine, glacier-formed kettle pond originally called Ice House Pond. The Land Bank purchased the property in November 2004 through the use of a straw buyer in order to mask the Land Bank's interest from multiple sellers who, the Land Bank said, would likely not have sold to the public agency. From 2004 to Spring 2008, the property was closed to the public while access was being litigated in court. The property finally opened to the public in Summer 2008, but has only 4 parking spaces to limit its use.

Visit Chicama Vineyards: Chicama Vineyards is less than a 10-minute drive from the house WINERY SHOP All of the wines the make are available for purchase at our shop. A daily rotating selection of our wines is available for tasting. In addition to our wines, we make a variety of fine foods: wine vinegars, mustards, salad dressings, flavored oils, jams and chutneys. May 24 - October 13 We are open Monday - Saturday from 11 - 5; free tours are at 12 noon, 2 and 4 o'clock. On Sundays, we are open from 1 - 5; free tours are at 2 and 4 o'clock. Please allow about 45 minutes for a complete tour and tasting. We are closed July 4th and Labor Day.

Stroll through the Gingerbread Cottages: The grounds of the Martha's Vineyard Campmeeting Association (MVCMA), located in Oak Bluffs just behind the retail district, grew out of the religious 'campmeeting' movement of the 19th century. The campgrounds grew to become one of the largest and best-known campmeeting sites in the country. Visitors to the Cottage Museum can view the interior of a Campground cottage, complete with period furnishings. Also on display are vintage photographs and other documents relating to the history of the Campground. One very special highlight of the summer season is Grand Illumination. This year, Grand Illumination will be held on Wednesday evening, August 15, 2007.

Golf: Mink Meadows Golf Club, located in Vineyard Haven, on Martha's Vineyard, was designed and constructed in 1936 by Wayne Stiles. This nine-hole, semi-private course measures to 3078 yards on the front nine and 3139 on the back. It features rolling terrain with ocean views over Vineyard Sound to Woods Hole and the Elizabeth Islands. Osprey and hawks regularly nest in the woods bordering the course. Deer and wildlife sightings are a common occurrence. Non-members can make tee times two days in advance.
