Lake Placid Cottage Details
A Little history of Garden Cottage...: Garden Cottage was originally an open-air 'smoking gazebo' created for the original Whiteface Inn. It is said that gentlemen would retire here to enjoy a brandy and a cigar after their meal at the Inn. Over time, additions were added to create a bedroom, bathroom, dining room and kitchen. The original stone hearth and living room with its cathedral ceiling remain. We assume the cottage was given its name due to gardens surrounding the property at one time. Although the original gardens were gone when the snow melted on the Cottage our first spring, we have recreated what we believe are gardens that are reminiscent of a period long since past. Our renovations are now complete with newly designed kitchen, dining area and bath room. High Speed Internet has been added for the convenience of our guests.
Cottage for All Seasons...: As you sit on an Adirondack chair, enjoy the smell of the surrounding woods, the view of Lake Placid below and the calming sound of a pair of loons in the distance. In summer the nearby 18 hole Championship golf course, beach, marina and tennis courts await you. In autumn, enjoy the splendor of a nature walk drinking in the beauty of fall foliage. In winter, virgin snows await your first tracks on snowshoes or cross-country skis or enjoy a sleigh ride and special dinner at the adjacent Whiteface Club & Resort. In spring, enjoy the reawakening of the gardens, the trees, the shrubs, the Lake and the entire Adirondacks. Please take advantage of all you find here. It is our desire that our cottage becomes your cottage during your stay in Lake Placid and that you'll find it a pleasant retreat to return to, season after season.
Cottage for All Seasons...Coming in 2009: As the Garden Cottage evolves, comfort and rejuvenation is the goal for our guests. Plans for 2009 include a hot tub and deck off the Master Bedroom.
