The Village of Akumal : The unhurried village of Akumal began as a diving resort and remote getaway for discerning travelers. Vista del Mar's rental units and hotel are located on the quiet beach of Half Moon Bay in North Akumal, 75 minutes south of Cancun International Airport. Unlike some of the larger resorts Akumal maintains its charming, relaxed atmosphere, and natural beauty. People return year after year to experience the calm beaches and low key lifestyle that Akumal has to offer.
Area Attractions: A five minute walk from Vista del Mar, Yal-Ku Lagoon is a pristine cenote that is home to a wide variety of sea life. Other activities include kite surfing, jungle walks, marine parks, scuba diving, cave exploring, fishing trips, and turtle watching. Akumal is a good spot from which to take many day trips: visit the ruins of Tulum, Chichen Itza, and Coba, Aktun Chen Caves, Xel-Ha Marine Park, and the Sian Ka'an Biosphere. Playa del Carmen and the island of Cozumel are also popular day trips for shopping and sight seeing.
La Buena Vida Restaurant and Bar: La Buena Vida Restaurant, a favorite open air bar and restaurant, serves drinks and casual lunches on the beach and by the pool.
