This guest apartment is the second floor of an extended New England Cape Cod house. Enjoy views from the windows of open fields and the mountains of Acadia National Park. There is a private entrance (with separate key) and off-street parking. You will find that the apartment has been completely renovated with lots of extra detailing to provide an attractive, compact layout. Lithographs and prints of local scenes from Mount Desert Island are featured on the walls. A washer and dryer are adjacent to kitchen. The library includes classic fiction, mysteries, and nature books. Current tourist guide books will help with planning your visit. The linen closet has all the sheets and towels you will need during your stay. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, flatware, cookware, and some basic condiments.

Located in Seal Cove, Maine, at the Long Pond entrance to Acadia National Park. The property is on a dead-end town road on the 'quiet side' of Mount Desert Island, near Pretty Marsh. It sits on the edge of a field overlooking Western Mountain. Two ponds are within walking distance. A short drive on a dirt road brings you either to the ocean or the largest lake in Acadia National Park. Nearby convenience stores are located in Bernard and Somesville; grocery and other shopping can be found in Southwest Harbor and Bar Harbor. The islands, mountains, oceanfront, ponds, trails, motor roads, and carriage roads of Acadia National Park are the biggest attraction in the area. Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.

  • Affordable 'home away from home' in a quite field overlooking the mountains of Acadia National Park.
  • Arrival after 2:00 pm on Saturday; departure by 10:00 am on Saturday. I will greet you upon your arrival, and walk through the place with you prior to departure. I expect you to leave a 'broom clean' apartment. If you do not, damage and cleaning fees apply (as specified in the occupancy agreement).
  • A deposit in the amount of one week's rent is required to confirm a reservation. I will send a confirmation and receipt along with an agreement stipulating the terms of the rental, including damage or extra cleaning fees. Renter must deliver a signed agreement to owner prior to occupancy. Full refund of deposit will be made with one month's notice to owner. One half of the deposit will be made with one to three weeks' notice. No refunds will be made with less than one week's notice.

Acadia National Park Apartment Details

This residence is gay friendly:: Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island merchants do not particularly cater to gay and lesbian tourists. However, it does seem that there is a large lesbian resident population and---surprise---gay men live here too. There are some gay-owned businesses and welcoming congregations on the island. I offer my local knowledge to help gay visitors find their way.

Local knowledge of national park and environs:: I will greet you upon arrival and give you an orientation to the apartment and the area. As a former Acadia National Park Ranger, I will provide first-hand information about visiting Mount Desert Island and other area attractions. I will even tell you about my favorite walks: one for a foggy morning, another for that crystal-clear, blue-sky afternoon.
