Catch your own mountain trout supper either in the local streams or in the many local stocked trout farms. If antiquing intrigues you then you are in heaven. There are wonderful shops in Cashiers, Highlands, Cherokee and Dillsboro along with a great indoor antique mall at the Whistle Stop in Franklin housing more than 20 Retail Stores, 60,000 square feet of antiques, 17,000 square feet of hand-made crafts in the Artisans and restaurants

Adventure:: If you are looking for some adventure, you can try guided kayak, canoeing, or tubing, or white water rafting trips on the Nantahala, Chattooga, Ocoee, or Tuskaseegee rivers. You can go horseback riding, pan for gold and gems at nearby “Gold City”, or try your luck at Harrah’s Casino in nearby Cherokee where 'Unto These Hills’ is performed live in their outdoor theatre nightly during the summer. Just 70 miles away is the gem of the western Carolinas, Asheville where you can visit the beautiful Biltmore Estate and gardens, known widely as America's Castle. Also, numerous eclectic restaurants located through the Franklin area feature wide varieties of cuisine. Walk along the Little Tennessee River on the Greenway and enjoy the peace and beauty of the area while viewing a multitude of local flora and fauna.
