Michigan City House Summary
Enjoy the beautiful sunsets over Lake Michigan while sipping coffee from either of the two large screened in decks. September has seen warm weather and water, a deserted beach and reduced rates. Home built in '98, no ruffing it. The sunset is visible from most of the rooms. Bedrooms are large and airy including a versatile dorm for 3-4 kids. Front two bedrooms have door to shared screened in deck-a perfect place to get away with a good book. Besides the two lake view decks there is a third deck to give folks maximum space to meet as a group or for just a few to enjoy a quiet conversation. Downstairs has kitchenette, dining area and living room opening with two double doors onto the large screened in deck- a perfect place for young ones to be outside while still behind a closed door or for adults to relax mosquito free late into the evening while listening to the sounds of the lake. There is also a den/fifth bedroom . Swings for kids and ping pong table for all ages in backyard.

Beautiful white sand beaches and white sand dunes abound. Bike paths abound including the one in front of the house. Casino is minutes away as is one of the best outlet malls in the region with Gap, Liz Taylor, Clavin Klein, Polo, Ann Taylor, Stride Right, OshKosh, Carters and more (watch the buses from Chicago arrive). Drive to nearby Michigan for great antiquing, excellent restaurants and art galleries. Walk for miles down the quiet white sand beach. Great dining in town and in nearby New Buffalo. There is bargain hunting at the nearby Lighthouse Mall or stop in at the Blue Chip Casino for food, gambling and shows
Run down the steep dune behind the house for a great one and a half hour walk through woods. Bike down the lake front bike path or to nearby New Buffalo, Michigan or the Indiana National Lake Shore reserve just ten minutes away.

Discount does include Labor Day week-end. End of summer and fall is tremendous time for hiking in woods and for enjoying the deserted beach. We can't book fast enough in summer, but if you can make it in the fall at off season now discounted rates you get a wonderful vacation for much less.

- Screened in deck off of two front bedrooms. Four bedrooms on second floor with 3 King size beds and a dorm with three twins and a trundle (we often put two twins together for a 4th king). Hard wood floors and overhead fans for those days when AC just isn't needed. Three bedrooms have expansive lake views. Fourth bedroom on second floor may not have lake view, but is nonetheless charming and often chosen by our guest. Also den on first floor has two day beds with trundle. Most linens from Crate and Barrel and Polo (thanks to the outlet mall). DSL line available.

Refrigerator is Subzero. Two top burners inside and third burner on large outdoor gas grill. Oven is microwave/convection oven. Also have large toaster oven. Large screened in deck on first floor is favorite place for summer dining and seats up to 20. Extra tables and chairs are stored under steps for large parties. Dishes from Dansk.
Backyard has ping pong table and swings and large deck with chaise, chairs and table.
Upstairs screened in deck off of bedrooms has sofa and small table and chairs and is perfect place to get away. No one will know you are there.
Offstreet parking is available in back of house in addition to two spaces in front of the house. Some folks prefer to get to house from around back.
Lovely bench on front steps to watch the susets of get away.
