Fabulous sunsets over the Cape Fear River and Atlantic Ocean and just a short walk or golf cart ride to the beach. No automobiles allowed on this northern-most subtropical island on the East Coast--just a 20 min. ferry ride from Southport, NC. This is unspoiled nature and beauty at its finest! Ride your bike through the maritime forest, paddle up the creeks and estuaries in your kayak/canoe or go shelling on the white beaches. Visit Old Baldy Lighthouse or Turtle Central, the turtle conservancy, or if you're brave, the 'Gator Hole' is sure to please. The sports-minded will enjoy golfing, tennis, croquet and swimming at the club. Restaurants include the club at both the Bald Head Island Club and the Shoal's Club, the RiverPilot and Eb & Flo's, and there is a deli at the grocery store.

Bald Head Island is just a 20 minute ferry ride from Southport, NC, a quaint fishing village at the mouth of the Cape Fear River. There are wonderful waterfront eateries, shopping, and antiques. Just off the coast is the infamous Frying Pan Shoals where many a pirate met his demise but serves as a great fishing experience today. Wilmington, NC is just 30 miles north, situated on the banks of the Cape Fear River, with its historic district (sometimes called 'Little Charleston'), movie studio, university and nearby beaches.

Decorated a' la 'Pottery Barn' to our liking and beach house a' la Coastal Living magazine. Comfy sofa and chairs, DVD, TV, CD--state of the art! Best asset--porch and deck with beautiful furniture. We enjoyed each morning for coffee and reading and enjoying atmosphere. Each evening a maritime sunset--beautiful!'
