It is home to Crescent Beach and Two Lights State Parks. Crescent Beach is 2 miles of sandy beach while Two Lights was made famous by painter Edward Hopper. Prouts Neck, the haunts of Winslow Homer, is only a few miles down the road in a neighboring community. Portland Headlight, commissioned by G. Washington is at CE's oceanside park and playground, Fort Williams, where kite flying is a popular activity. Active sports such as swimming, kayaking, body surfing, boating, fishing, biking, hiking, wind surfing can be enjoyed as well as whale-watching, sun-bathing and beach combing.
