During the spring gopher turtles make nests in the sand, and these areas are always roped off to ensure you don't disturb a nest. A favorite pastime is searching for fossilized shark's teeth along the shore. In the evening take your favorite drink with you and stroll down to the beach to watch some of the most spectacular sunsets you will ever see, as night falls across the Gulf of Mexico. The Manasota Beach area is truly Florida the way it used to be before the arrival of theme parks and freeways - an experience not to be missed.

Conservation: The villa is built close to a conservation area for the protected Scrub Jays. These delightful birds nest in the trees all around. The part of the garden behind the pool is protected for them, as is much of the surrounding area. Being situated at the end of a shell lane means there will never be traffic passing the door, and you will be able to enjoy the natural surroundings which make this part of Florida so unique. You may be lucky enough to see some of the gopher turtles in the garden along with squirrels, and some of the other beautiful sub-tropical birds, which abound. It is sometimes hard to believe that from this haven you are just minutes from great shops and restaurants. All this and the beach too - truly a 'one-of-a-kind' holiday experience.
