This home is in a perfect location to be away from the hectic traffic yet close enough to Bellevue Avenue for mansions and shopping, America's Cup Avenue for wharf and yacht area, and nearby conveniences and many restaurants. It is located between two of the most beautiful beaches in RI, Newport's Easton's Beach and Middletown's Sachuest Beach. Newport is known as 'America's First Summer Resort,' and is the home of The International Tennis Hall of Fame, Newport Preservation Society and Newport Mansions, The Newport Jazz Festival, The Newport Music Festival and the Newport Film Festival. This home is close to Carnegie Abbey and Newport National, known for world class golfing. Activities at your doorstep include swimming, surfing, windsurfing, kayaking, canoing, & sunbathing on Newport's Easton's (1st) Beach. On the rocks to the left of the beach enjoy fishing and snorkeling. Easton's Beach has a playground, snack bar, merry-go-round, aquarium & live weekly entertainment.
Middletown's Sachuest (2nd) Beach is just 1/2 mile away with the best surfing in Rhode Island. Families with young children will enjoy Middletown's third Beach with no waves and a boat ramp with windsurfing at the north end. Just a short walk to popular restaurants & pubs including Johnny's Atlantic Beach Club & Flo's Clam Shack. The Cliff Walk & Bellevue Avenue shopping & mansions are just 1 mile away & Newport's waterfront wharfs, yachting, restaurants & shopping are 2 miles away. This home has air conditioning, BBQ gas grill on deck, outside 'after-swim' shower, laundry washer & dryer, fully-equipped kitchen with microwave, gas stove, blender, coffeemaker, toaster, dishes, utensils, glasses, pots & pans, cable TV, VCR, stereo with CD, Internet access, all linens including bath towels, beach towels, sheets & comforter sets, deck furniture with table, chairs, umbrella, beach chairs, beach toys for kids, boogie boards, swing set, & children's playhouse with large yard.
Easton's '1st' beach and many other RI beaches have red seaweed that travels up and down the beach with the tides. It is not 'Red Tide'. At the beach in front of my house, after heavy rainstorms, they advise not to swim or it may be closed due to storm drain runoff. Storm drain runoff is animal bacteria and fertilizers that run down the streets into the storm drains that come together and flow into the beach. The seaweed traps the bacteria and the state has such stringent level requirements that they will advise against swimming or close the beach until the tides dilute the bacteria counts. This usually occurs with a tide change within 12-24 hours. I swim in the water and so do my kids when the beach is closed but we do not drink the water. You may get a stomachache if you drink it yet we have never experienced that. The government standards are now so stringent that storm water closes the beach. This does not occur at Sachuest '2nd' beach 1/2 mile away. I will reimburse for parking.
Golf: Newport Country Club, Newport National, Carnegie Abbey, Green Valley, Montaup, Jamestown, Wanumetonomy golf courses are all within 5 miles of this home.
