Lake Gaston - Average Summer Temperature 76.5 °F: LAKE GASTON has 350 miles of beautiful shoreline with ecological guidelines in place to protect its inhabitants. Lake Gaston is 34 miles in length and 1.3 miles across at its widest point. The meandering Roanoke River unwinds for a bit in the 30,000+ acres of surface waters and caresses the shoreline in three counties of North Carolina and two of Virginia. Magnificent tall pines, sturdy hardwoods, natural dogwoods and hollies experience all four seasons and create a tranquil country setting just minutes away from shopping, medical facilities and entertainment. The sparkling green waters provide an abundance of treasures that are enjoyed by lake enthusiasts -- fishing, boating, swimming, water skiing, jet skiing and just relaxing. Public golf courses, walking trails, fitness centers, cultural art centers, local historical sites and antique shops are a few of Lake Gaston's points of interest. Observing and photographing wildlife and water fowl may become your next pastime.

Golf: Lake Gaston Country Club Lake Gaston Country Club is near Lake Gaston Estates on Hubquarter Rd. It is a 9-hole, 36-par, 2,800 yards course. There is also a full grill for breakfast and lunch all day. Phone (252)257-2033. Lake Gaston Golf Club LGGC is an 18 hole public golf course open 7AM till dusk daily. Located in Gasburg Virginia, the course offers an exceptional views that include wide open fairways, challenging narrow “chutes”, and spectacular plateaus overlooking lakes and ponds. Lake Gaston Golf Club also offers a driving range as well as a wide range of items in the Pro Shop. Special golf packages that include green fees and cart rental are available daily. Tee times are required on weekends and recommended during the week. Phone: 434 577 2888 for tee times. Directions: (14 miles from the house). Go back out and take a right on to Rt 903 and go to Ebony where the general store is. At the stop sign, turn left onto Route 626 and follow to Gasburg, Virginia. Watch out as Rt 626 outside of Ebony at one point bears off to the right. Proceed on Route 626 past Gasburg and turn right on Route 688. Go one mile and the course is on your left. Note: There is a score card for the course in the back of this book. Tip: A great souvenir from the lake is a Lake Gaston Golf Club hat for about $12 avl at the pro shop.
