Canaan Cottage Details
Siting: The Cottage is a lovely, private nineteenth century home, completely protected from views of other houses. The Cottage is reached via a private lane into the Hollow Brook Farm estate that encompasses some two hundred acres of Canaan Valley fields and forest. The Cottage sits by a meadow through which meanders Hollow Brook from the private forest above the Cottage, and is surrounded by century old maples and pine trees.
Accomodations: The Cottage is elegantly furnished throughout with eighteenth and nineteenth century American and English antiques, with an emphasis on China trade objects. The accommodations include two full bedrooms and sitting room, a living room with working brick fireplace for those crisp fall evenings, a well-outfitted proper country kitchen with its dining area looking out on the meadow and the brook, and an outdoor patio area for al fresco cocktails or dining as you wish.
Surroundings: A truly charming country getaway, with easy access to northern Litchfield County, lower Berkshire County and Great Barrington venues. Convenient to Salisbury , Berkshire and Hotchkiss Schools and the Norfolk Music Festival. A lovely country base for school visits, antiquing, dining or fall leaf season rambles. And a great summer rental, surrounded by natural beauty in a country estate. Additional short stay residences also available at the Farm.
Ski: Within a half-hour drive of Catamount and Butternut ski areas; 100 open acres on the Farm to cross country ski if you wish!
