Details for The Tall House
Parts of the house are original from 1840-1860. Most likely that structure was lifted and new floors were added below, sometimes after 1860. A map of the Mechanic Street from the 1870's shows the house on the same location and with the same structure, the Barn few feet away from the Middle House and the Tall House. Original details from that time are the ornate copper ceiling in one of the 'fancy rooms of the Middle House, the varnished maple baseboards, the varnished oak pocket doors, the wide pine boards on some of the floors and the beautiful staircase and ceiling plasterwork. The windows are most all originals with the old wavy glass. The lawn slopes gradually towards the 160 feet of ocean shore. 100 yrs ago that site was occupied by an ice packing and shipping company. Now the garden and the lawn are framed by majestic pines, oaks and maples. The shore is framed by large beautiful granite rocks and the water is easily accessible bedrooms have full water view.

Adjacent studio for 1-2 addit gsts only avail May-Oct 6-700$/wk. 7% ME rent tx applies for vac rentals up to 28 days stay, not incl in the rate. Weekly rents usually Sat to Sat, check in after 2 pm before dark, check out before 10 am dep day. Late check outs charged half day. 25% deposit required for booking. Full paym due 30 days before arrival.Security dep might be charged as well to newcomers. If rental cancelled under 60 days before arr date, dep shall be refunded when/if the vacancy filled -100$ canc fee. Off seas rates, wkly & mnthly avail, ideal long term for couples, singles[Sept-May] as furnished apt. No pets.1car park per family. Fully furnished,will not store/accept addit furniture or large items. Each guest will handle their trash disposal,recycling. No extra guests admitted other than the agreed in rate, no parties,no incidental visitors.Dock negociated separately.Small children -pls ask.

Dock and mooring access negociable.During the summer months rental season, we can not accept additional surprise visitors on the premises, but only the guests agreed upon. Guests arriving with more people than agreed, may not be accepted.No rentals to under 24 yrs old, unless accompanied by an older family member. Only 1 car per family. If guests arrive in more than 1 car, they are responsible for parking their other vehicle further from the property and the neighbors' entrances. No parties accepted on the premises. No household trash storage or removal. Guests will each receive information about the transfer and recycling station nearby. Arrival time is after 2 pm and before dark, vacating before 10 am . Since the property involves stairs, light weight antique furniture, vintage bathrooms and some narrow opening shower stalls, it is not suitable or recommended for very young children, handicapped, special needs, extremely oversized/overweight. Quiet times will apply 8pm-8am.
