Halifax House Details

Quality assurance:Licensed & inspected by NS govt: The Noel Shore, is rightly known as the 'undiscovered jewel' of Nova Scotia, the area offers unparalleled ocean views, miles of all but deserted beaches, the awesome spectacle of the world’s highest tides and a unique & traditional experience of Nova Scotia. We are delighted to share this peaceful 60 acres of 'heaven' with others who also want to walk gently on the earth & preserve its beauty & peace. All of our guest services emphasize care for the environment. Absorb the astounding views; listen to the roar of the surf from the world's highest tides; swim in the mellow salt waters of the Minas Basin; walk on the beach for miles in an area famous for fossils; explore the tidal pools, the woodlands & meadows; fish for sea bass; follow our Trout Pool Brook to the very special place where it burbles gently across a sandstone shelf & cascades in a beautiful little waterfall to the sea, watch the abundant wildlife (including deer, eagles, quail, pheasants, humming birds, osprey, owls)

Perfect for large gatherings of family and friends: Shore Haven is an ideal location for gatherings of family and friends for holidays or special occasions such as weddings, reunions, anniversaries. A unique experience of the sea and nature with lots of room to spread out, indoors and out. We are directly on the ocean (Minas Basin), with miles of hard red sand/pebble beach that can be walked or jogged (or carry your mountain bike down and ride for miles and miles) and at low tide there is a captivating vast sweep of sculpted, walk-able tidal sands. There is private access to the beach along a path to the shore and down a short flight of stairs (vertical height of 8 or 9 feet). Guests can relax with such activities as long walks on the beach in an area famous for fossils and rock specimens (including amethyst crystals), and ocean swimming. The beach, the sea, the woodlands, Evangeline and Trout Pool Brooks, the birds and animals and an amazing evening sky offer so many opportunities for being “re-created” and restored by nature.

Lots to do without leaving home: Endless hours of enjoyment & relaxation are available on the miles of beach, the meadows, brooks & woodlands on this peaceful 60 acres. Fabulous open-air and/or glassed-in sea view of the world's highest tides, indoor & outdoor games (croquet, badminton, volleyball, ping pong table). Fish for sea bass right on our beach and cook it up in the gourmet kitchen. Relax in the sun on the deck while listening to the roar of the surf. Wonder at the soaring eagles over-head, fly kites on the meadow, walk the beach for miles.

Ski: The beaches, villages and rich farmland of the spectacular “Noel Shore” are just moments away. Experience a step back in time with the warm hospitality, unique shops, antiques, artisans, crafts, farm markets, quilts & hand hooked rugs, preserves, quality 'new-to-you' clothing, fishing wharves, restaurants (from down-home to gourmet dinning), historic churches & museums of seaside villages such as Newport Landing, Sommerville, Noel, & Hantsport . Excellent guided tours, detailing the unique geology & local folklore are available. Maitland Village, designated Nova Scotia's first Heritage Conservation District is an historic ship building village & the home of the world's largest sailing vessel which is chronicled at the Lawrence House museum. Maitland is also home to Riverview Herbs & its delightful cafe as well as an excellent fine dining restaurant. Experience the thrill of the world’s highest tides, “up close and personal' on a zodiac. Halifax 1hour : dinning, shopping, touring, art

Golf: Golf all day Minas View Links for $20 Canadian, fabulous seaside setting, golf carts available, only 15 minutes away. There are more than 20 excellent golf courses within 1 hours easy drive of Shore Haven House by the Sea, a great opportunity to travel with friends for a golfing vacation but still have excellent private accommodation. The meadows provide an excellent spot for practice shots, and after a long day on the course enjoy the ocean-view deck or a moonlight stroll on the beach.

Guest Book: All of us came home with the most wonderful memories of 'the best family vacation yet' (we've been doing it for more than 15 years!) The house & the scenery were wonderful. We loved the small nearby communities, people were incredibly friendly & helpful. 2006 Cfam, TX, MA &CA'A lovely week, the beach is breath-taking. To be out there at low tide when the sun sets is magical. All you could want for peace & relaxation. Check out the unbelievable starry nights.' (May 2005, PG, Ontario) “The privacy here is exactly what a “get-a-away” embodies. Here, you can find the rhythm of the soul dance with nature. I cannot recall being so-at peace.” (GD, PA, USA) “Shore Haven has been the perfect family vacation, none of us wants to leave. We have all loved the peace & the privacy & being in our own delightful world here away from the hustle & bustle. There is no way to describe the beauty of the scenery, the roar of tides. The hosts have thought of everything, the house is perfect. 2003/2005 CA/ON

Other Activities: sea bass fishing, tidal bore rafting, eagle watch tour
