Otis House Summary

This lovely, secluded A-frame is located on a one acre wooded lot in the private community of Otis Wood Lands, Otis, MA, in the Southern Berkshires, less than 3 hours from New York City/ Northern NJ and Boston. The house has three levels. The main level has an open living room/ dining room with cathedral ceiling and ceiling fan, a Vermont wood-burning stove, and a double set of sliding glass doors that lead out to a wood deck. TV with VCR/DVD. The fully equipped kitchen is open to the dining/ living area. There is a master bedroom with queen bed and full bathroom. The lower level contains a bedroom with double bed and a full bathroom, a rec room with a sofa bed, ping-pong table, darts, and TV with VCR. The loft contains a double bed and high rise/trundle bed.

An idyllic ski getaway, numerous downhill and cross-country ski areas for both novices and experienced skiers are located only minutes away. Numerous nearby state parks, forests, and lakes offer swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, picnicking, and beautiful views. Fall foliage is phenomenal. In Otis Wood Lands there is a serene lake with a safe, sandy swimming beach, as well as an outdoor heated pool. Hike on a trail that begins a short walk from the house through Otis State Forest to beautiful, secluded Upper Spectacle Pond. Enjoy ping-pong and darts in the rec room of the house, or relax in the solitude, reading a book on the deck surrounded by the tall trees and the subtle sounds of nature. Minutes away enjoy antiquing, the outlets, concerts at Tanglewood, dance at Jacobs Pillow, plays at the Berkshire Theatre Festival, numerous art museums, including the Norman Rockwell Museum, and many other sites.

Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.

  • $600-$1600/week
  • March, April, May, June: $600/week, $1900/mo. Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb: $800/week, $2500/mo.
    Sept, Oct: $900/week, $2800/mo. July, August: $1200/week; call for monthly rates.
    Weekly Rates Are Higher During Holiday Periods. Please Inquire.
    Winter Season: $7400 (Jan. 2, 2009 thru Mar. 31, 2009; includes monthly cleaning service).
    Security deposit: $300/week, $500/mo.
    Electricity not included; will be deducted from security deposit.

Noteworthy nearby places for food and fun:: Other Brother Daryl's fish store has fresh seafood, which they will also cook for you on the spot. The Otis Poultry Farm sells fresh eggs, chicken pot pies, home made baked goods, and souvenirs. During the summer there is a Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings in East Otis. The Farmington River Country Store serves great breakfasts. You can dine on any type of food in restaurants ranging from gourmet to diners, within a 30 minute radius.
